19th July 2014, a momentous date, not in 2014, but many many years ago. Anyway, I digress, here we are, at Mablethorpe. It’s nearly sunset and what a wonderful day we’ve all had.

Dedicated to my beloved Scotties
19th July 2014, a momentous date, not in 2014, but many many years ago. Anyway, I digress, here we are, at Mablethorpe. It’s nearly sunset and what a wonderful day we’ve all had.

Me and Bobby, guarding our chalet in Mablethorpe, July 19th 2014. He taught me soooo much. I’m now very able to guard Mama from anything.

Me and Mama have decided that maybe we won’t have a Christmas Carol this year, but we’ll re-post the one we did last year. Quite poignant as my beloved Bobby and some of bestest friends are no longer here. But he and they wouldn’t want us to grieve too much. So let’s celebrate their lives and all the good things we’ve done together. It’s early, but better late than never ……. Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from the new Sparhawk Clan

Posted on December 12th 2014 : Despite “cheating” with a re-run of our Advent Calendar from 2012, we’ve persuaded Mama to help us with our 2014 Christmas Carol. And (drum roll please ….) Here it is. You sing it to the tune of ‘It’s beginning to look like Christmas”. We wanted to include everyone in this version, but only had the creativity to include those that you find within our lyrics. We hope we’ve not offended those of you who we haven’t named personally – you are all our bestest friends.
So here’s our Carol …..
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Everywhere we trot
Take a look out the garden gate, wishing we won’t be late
To meet with friends, especially that new Scott
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
barking all the way
isn’t it great to pee, on your neighbours christmas tree
Until we’re chased away
Bowls of nourishing treats for Scotties to eat
Is the wish of Kyla and clan
Peeps that don’t talk but will go for a walk
Is the hope of Wally and Sam;
And Mom and Dad can hardly wait for the day to start again.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Especially round our tree;
There’s a tree on our christmas card and two in our neighbours yard
The sturdy kind that doesn’t mind our pee.
It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas;
With Stuart and his art,
And the thing that will make us glad is the happiness you’ve had
Right within your heart!
Scotties scattered worldwide, we laugh and we’ve cried
to read about our friends
to visit their sites, to comment and write
is the love that never ends
And all us Scots can hardly wait for the day to start again.
Its beginning to look a lot like Christmas
Soon all Scots arooOOoo
And the thing that will make them stop,
is the turkey that you drop
right within their view!
For all our friends …. even the absent ones
The Boat House. At The Rougley Cottage, Scottish Borders. Oh boy …. so many memories for everyone. The year : 2001. The reason : Honeymoon of Mama and Dada. You can see Mama’s head in the lock as she’s swimming back to the boat house. And our friend Maggie Crisfield Walters is waiting to help her out of the lock, supported as you can see by two scotties on the edge of the decking. I wasn’t there ‘cos I wasn’t born till 2003, but Mama tells me it was THE most fantastic time (despite the fact that her own Mama had died 10 days earlier) – oh boy – what a memory ….. and now its all gone away. I try and comfort Mama, but she says “it is what it is, little man”. Thank goodness that me and Maggie Crisfield Walters (and Fabi of course) are still around to help out.
