How devious is your Mum!

Begging for Bonios

I know, we’ve yet to do our morning ablutions! Yes its late afternoon, but have you noticed the weather! Too wet for Ducks if you ask us.

Anyway, Mum thinks we need to go out and she know’s we won’t so the cheeky monkey opened the kitchen door to the garden and threw out Bonio biscuits for us to get.

We all dashed out, as quick as ….. something, and came back in. Finlay was very slow, trying to dodge the downpour. Bobby stood guarding the doorway back into the kitchen so Fin couldn’t get in and then . . . . and then he stole the bonio biscuit out of Fin’s mouth!

Well Mum creased up with laughter; I, Gus stood well back, having dashed out and retrieved my Bonio in double quick time – I might be enormous in size, but I’m very nimble on my feet. Mum, the soppy thingy, then gave Fin another biscuit. All this joviality brought Dad out of the lounge and then HE joined in.

Anyway, we’re all back in the house, settled down and drying off, and legs still tightly crossed!

Soggy Sunday

Hey! you're coming with me

Well after the fairly glorious weather, normal service has been resumed : rain!

The Mother Blackbird, we think, has hatched her 2nd brood, and the Robin is still feeding its fledgling (which looks bigger than the parent).

Our Robin trying to keep dry under the vine

We Sparhawk Scotties just will not budge an inch – we can smell rain – and will keep our legs crossed for hours until we get a gentle “kick up the bum” to go out!

Hope your weekend’s not too soggy.

Grooming disaster!

A bit messy

Well after 4 nights camping (in a motorhome of course), Scottie coats are looking bedraggled. Mum “promised” us a grooming. Fortunately for us, she’s left the grooming bag in Doris (our motorhome), which has now gone in for her MOT and service . . . . and won’t be back till next week. Woof Woof

Is Summer really here?

What a fantastic few weeks we’ve had (here in the Midlands). Not a drop of rain for at least 3 weeks. Garden looks “blooming” although I have to keep watering it.

Our garden is a wildlife “sanctuary” with nearly all the features wildlife adore. Running water, stream, overgrown bushes to hide in from predators, plenty of sunny aspects for nest building, and for me too, it is fabulous to watch the wildlife living in my front garden.

Yes, it’s my turn to write something for the start of May – my boys have done a fabulous job over the last couple of months, but if it doesn’t involve food, then they are not really interested, and this “blog” is about me, watching wildlife – yeah I know some of it would have been food for the scotties if they had not been domesticated, but they have.

There is often competition for food – for example just today I was sitting watching the Starlings make an utter mess of the fat balls I made for them, with Bobby nosing around beneath the feeders, picking up the bits that fall to the ground. Unfortunately I didn’t have my camera to hand otherwise there would have been a picture to support this.
