When I was a “Show Boy”
Mmmm ….. now then, don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t a Show Boy for long. Mama was told by Dada, that if she wanted to keep me and Finlay, she would have to start showing us. I was selected first and started “showing” in 2003 when I was about 8 months old. Mama’s intention was to get us qualified for Crufts and to let us experience the most famous Show Ring of all. She thought it would take her years to get us qualified ‘cos we weren’t “bred for the show ring”, just as nice pets for nice families. Well, she got both me and Finlay qualified for Crufts in the first year of our respective show careers. We both “went to Crufts” and although we qualified for the next year after that first one, Mama said she was satisfied that once was enough. Here’s a couple of photos with the odd Trophy that we ‘won’.

Bobby both you and Finley looked terrific. Lee wishes I could grow a long skirt. I have wonderful whiskers, but my skirt is sparse.

Why, thank you Sweet William The Scot. Yes, your whiskers are magnificent – don’t worry about your skirt, you have oodles of ‘scottitude’ to make up for it!

For ‘not bred for show’, you guys were FANTASTIC! We’ve get laughed out of a show ring….not that we’d mind. We were bred to chase little critters, especially cats.

Chasing cats and critters is a far better thing to do than being primped and groomed for the show ring – I love my time now more than ever!

Long beards and long eye-brows – they often get in the way, but Mama won’t cut them. And anyway, having a long beard means that food gets stuck in it and I can have a tasty treat whenever I want!

What about Gus? Did he get off “Scot free”?

Gus stayed at home – he was a ‘no nonsense scottie’ much like your goodself. Wouldn’t take kindly to anyone feeling his body and bits like they do at the Shows – never once showed his teeth in anger at anyone or anything, but I’m sure he would’ve taken someone’s hands off if they ventured near his manly bits!
