Thirsty Thursday

Sitting pretty in the village of Newcastleton waiting to the ceildlh to start

Here’s me (of course) sitting very prettily (for a boy) in the village of Newscastleton waiting for the festivities to start. I have to hand my trusty bowl of water so that I can slurp whenever I feel like it. It was so hot that we had to put up an umbrella so that I could keep cool. Who’d have thought that would happen in Scotland! You can also just about see my Scottish Terrier Health Awareness ribbon peeking out through my beard!

Big Feet

big feet!

Boy, my feet are big. This is me doing what Mama calls “a torpedo boy”. I know a lot of you guys call it frog dog, but we’re sticking to “torpedo boy” if you don’t mind.

Anyway this is me still at The Roughly Cottage near Newcastleton in Scotland, enjoying my July holiday. I’m at the boat house just whiling away the day. It was way too hot to venture much further – we had to wait for the sun to go down a bit before we could go out on a walk, but that was no problem, unless the midges came with us, and if you’ve ever come across a horde of midges then they can ruin just about anything. Fortunately we had some spray to keep them at bay – hey that rhymes!

I love stretching out like a torpedo. Other than food and eating food, what do you guys like doing?

Thirsty Thursday

A slightly different angle to “Thirsty Thursday” this week. Remember the post that displayed the ‘broken babies’ that me and Mama fixed? Well here’s the new babies that Dada felt he needed to buy to replace those broken babies. This time he bought four of them ‘cos he knows that Mama loves her coffee. Aren’t these cute! They’ve managed to stay in one piece throughout our journey from Scotland to Mablethorpe; they lived there for a couple of weeks, then me and Mama brought them back home to our ‘main house’ in Nottinghamshire. We’ve got quite a collection of scottie cups now, including broken ones that Mama won’t throw away.

One of my many homes this year!

Roughly Cottage

This was my holiday home for two weeks in July. It is a crofters cottage up the side of a mountain. The only other building you can see from here is The Hermitage in the distance. This is a fabulous cottage. It has NO ELECTRICITY, so no TV or radio. It has been updated since Mama & Dada’s last visit in 2001 because it now has solar powered lights internally.

The only noise you can hear is the bleating of the sheep scattered around the mountain and on some weekdays, the RAF do low flying over the cottage – so low that you can see the pilots!

If you want to escape from the “rat-race” as Mama calls it, then this is really the place to unwind. They holiday-ed here at least 5 times over the years with one of the holiday’s being their belated honeymoon.
