Monday Madness

Yap! Another week starts.

Mum says we are maddening on a Monday. Apparently we act as if we’ve NEVER been out on a walk EVER  … so She says!

What she doesn’t realise is that on a Friday when we read and write Peemail, we expect to visit there again on the Saturday – but this isn’t always the case. More often than not we go elsewhere for walks at the weekend.

Soooo ….. Madness on a Monday is only to be expected … there’s a lot of peemail to read that’s been left for us over the weekend and we are desperate to get to it!

However, She says that we are like this EVERY day. Acting as if we’ve never been out. We don’t actually believe that. We are just a happy little pack of very well behaved Scotties. (If you believe the bit about well behaved …… well poetic license and all that, plus we like to make you guys believe we are good little boys! She will tell you a different story)

Anyway all back home now. Half baths completed; carrots eaten; now time for a lovely afternoon snooooooze. See Fin already assuming the position!!!

How was the start to your week?

That is NOT my Name

Gus, our gentle-man

I am demanding the return of my name. Yeah, its a good solid Scottish name (shortened from Angus) but They have now christened me Will Sniff.

Will Sniff …….. why, I hear you ask?

Well, you all know just how stubborn we Scots can be when out doing our stuff. Wanting to stop every five paces. Wanting to pee every 6 paces. And just wanting to stop …… for, what seems to Them, NOTHING! But ho! if they had our noses, They’d be stopping all the time.

Apparently, They say  I am a Gold Medal Winner in the art of STOPPING. I can do an Emergency Stop better than any driver. But the thing that annoys Them the most, is that when I STOP, I then walk another 5 paces BEFORE SNIFFING !!!!! So what’s wrong with that?

I can sniiiiifffff a blade of grass for hours on end; She has to return quite regularly to hurry me along. Bobby and Fin just love it as it makes our walks longer and sniffing soooooo enjoyable!

However, if I am to have a name change I’ll only consider the following: Angus (My Sunday and Being Told Off Name), Gussie (When I’ve done something Cute) or Big Man (the one I like the best!)

So although I agree that Will Sniff is an amusing AKA for me, I’d much rather remain Gus …. or Big Man ….. or maybe Will Sniff for those more amusing days of mine!

Roooodles to you all from us Sparhawk Boys.

About July

The stepping stones

We are absolutely positive that we wrote about our July antics, but we can’t find that post anywhere.

Well. As we’ve finished the first week of August, we don’t seem to be able to remember much about its beginnings, never mind what we did throughout July! But as members of the Clan Diehard, we’ll surge ahead and put paw to paper.

We of course ensured that we got all our morning walks, even if some of them were in the afternoon! Mum said it was because some days the weather was just too warm to go out earlier. We also got wet a few times as well, but having nice thick coats we were ok!

We had two legged visitors from Stirling, Scotland during one of the weekends. We took them out on one of our lovely walks around Belper. Looked like rain that day, but we were all surprised by really nice weather. Took us longer than normal (humans do chat somewhat don’t they, and also ‘cos it got warmer).

Where'd that white one go! (Clan Gathering)

You may have seen from our sister blog Scottie Dog News, that we had a July Clan Gathering: meeting up with our brother William and our niece Poppy. That is such good fun, noisy, but fun.

Mum’s still trying to photograph the Jays that reside in our woods. They are crafty creatures. They seem to know when Mum has only got her iPhone and not proper camera – they taunt her by flying lower than normal! The Woodpecker seems to have found a mate, so we are pleased for Mum. She does stand around rather too long sometimes. Doesn’t she realise that we have peemail to read and write!

The woods are getting noticeably quieter. The other day there was not a bird sound at all – rather spooky. Mum thought we’d walked through one of them invisible doors Phillip Pullman writes about, and ended up in a parallel universe without birds! Even if we had, we managed to find another doorway back to our own universe ‘cos as soon as we got out of the woods, the birds on the heathland were still there.

Sparhawk Kitchen Assistants

Well, as the summer slowly progresses with the advent of August, we’ll sign off and hope to remember to write About August in a timely fashion.

We’re off camping in our motorhome in a couple of weeks, so there might be some interesting stuff to report on!

Happy Monday!

Happy Finlay

Well …. you wouldn’t have thought that earlier this morning. Mama was in a very moany mood. It didn’t help with the arrival of a neighbours grandchildren for the day – who thought shouting and racing their scooters down our very quiet cul-de-sac was some form of fun! Nor the fact that another neighbour whose property borders the back of ours is having building work done – and we all know how quiet builders work!!

Anyway, Fin restored Mama’s mood by being his usual happy self and posing for this picture during our morning walk – and as is usual with Fin you’ll notice “no ears” !!!! Helps with all those befunky creations of ours; easier to put hats and stuff on him!

We hope that all our friends out there have had a better start to Monday than we.

Scotties Against Grooming!

Finlay with grass seed on head

Yesterday we decided that we would put our paws down with determination!

We  launched a “campaign” last night on Twitter, called Scotties Against Grooming [#scottiesagainstgrooming for Tweeters].

We’ve had some little success, but we need more paws to the pumps!

We know it won’t last ‘cos our Peeps will eventually find the time to get out the Grooming Bag but whilst They are distracted, we Sparhawks want to know how many Scotties out there dislike grooming. In fact, all and any dog breed can join in the fun.

Also, to be completely fair, let us know how many of you ACTUALLY LIKE BEING GROOMED. We bet there’s not a lot!

So come and join in this little bit of arroooing, yapping and woofing fun, and make the most of it whilst it lasts!

Tangled Tuesdays!

WE HATES TUESDAYS !

Finlay with grass seed on head

Well ….. not ALL of Tuesdays. We don’t hate the bits of Tuesdays when we go for our morning walks … all those sniffs … yummy. We don’t even hate the bits of Tuesdays when we have to sit in the baby bath and get our legs and bits cleaned off. And we certainly don’t hate the bits of Tuesdays when we get carrots after the baby bath thingy!

What we do hate is the bits of Tuesdays that involve the Grooming Bag. It lurks in a corner, all dark and brooding, with its zippered mouth wide open, and those implements of torture spilling out around it! She does try to zip it up, but its grown sooooo fat over the years, that it would need to go on a crash diet to  get anywhere near being fastened. Even though the grooming bag is a Radley bag, WE STILL HATES IT!

However, as we were all rather mucky and muddy from our walk this morning,  we’ve not quite dried out enough for her to use one of the brushes. We’ve all been rather desperately trying to rid ourselves of all the sticky bud balls that are clinging to our skirts, but we too, are struggling.

There’s always the hope that another chore will take her mind off the Grooming Bag … but if we don’t get “done” today, it’ll be Woeful Wednesday (tomorrow) for us Sparhawk lads!

Think about us ….. please!
