Monday Madness

Yap! Another week starts.

Mum says we are maddening on a Monday. Apparently we act as if we’ve NEVER been out on a walk EVER  … so She says!

What she doesn’t realise is that on a Friday when we read and write Peemail, we expect to visit there again on the Saturday – but this isn’t always the case. More often than not we go elsewhere for walks at the weekend.

Soooo ….. Madness on a Monday is only to be expected … there’s a lot of peemail to read that’s been left for us over the weekend and we are desperate to get to it!

However, She says that we are like this EVERY day. Acting as if we’ve never been out. We don’t actually believe that. We are just a happy little pack of very well behaved Scotties. (If you believe the bit about well behaved …… well poetic license and all that, plus we like to make you guys believe we are good little boys! She will tell you a different story)

Anyway all back home now. Half baths completed; carrots eaten; now time for a lovely afternoon snooooooze. See Fin already assuming the position!!!

How was the start to your week?

Happy Half Birthday!

Gus 12 and a half today

HAPPY HALF BIRTHDAY GUS!

Gus is 12 and a half years old today. The photo above was taken on his Birthday Walk back in February (post is on Scottie Dog News site)

We had a little panic with him last night though. He started shaking and his ears were at half mast and he walked with a severe limp! We were very concerned. His pads were checked for alien objects, but nothing of concern was found. He just tried to curl up and make himself comfortable. When offered chicken, as a small treat to see what his reactions were, he bunny hopped, wobbled and limped on three legs very quickly to get it! So, we thought that perhaps he’d twisted his back leg when jumping up onto the settee.

This morning though all seems fine! He did his usual moaning and groaning to get his peeps out of bed to make his breakfast. And he was able to do his bunny-wave. Thank Dog for that!

At the moment he is back to being miserable, in fact we are all miserable because we’ve been told that we’re not going on a walk just yet. She wants to see whether the limp has really gone. He is 12 and a half, and so She says more care must be taken with our Grand Old Man!

Hey ho! We’ll just get in Her way as she tidies up the house for the weekend – perhaps She’ll get so annoyed with us messing up as She tidies up that She’ll take us out instead – there’s hope for three wonderfully behaved Scotties!

Wildlife Wednesday

Hedgehog at Westwood

We three Sparhawk Scotties are very privileged to be not only living with two wonderful humans, but in a nearly nice village, in the country, in a bungalow that borders several fields. So of course, we get to see a lot of wildlife in our own garden.

This lovely little hedgehog was noticed patrolling our front garden on Sunday. Mum obviously dropped everything (she was supposed to be feeding the baby koi carp) ran in for the camera and our pot of freshly cooked chicken …. how very dare she. Anyway, the little hedgehog was allowed to eat as much as it wanted, then it waddled off, under the gate. Mum followed it to make sure it made its way to relative safety – one of the hedgerows bordering the farmers field.

We’ll keep looking out for it, or rather Mum will ‘cos we’re quite partial to barking a lot when visitors like hedgehogs visit, and She says that we frighten them off.

We’ll keep you “posted” ha-ha if it happens to pay further visits.

That is NOT my Name

Gus, our gentle-man

I am demanding the return of my name. Yeah, its a good solid Scottish name (shortened from Angus) but They have now christened me Will Sniff.

Will Sniff …….. why, I hear you ask?

Well, you all know just how stubborn we Scots can be when out doing our stuff. Wanting to stop every five paces. Wanting to pee every 6 paces. And just wanting to stop …… for, what seems to Them, NOTHING! But ho! if they had our noses, They’d be stopping all the time.

Apparently, They say  I am a Gold Medal Winner in the art of STOPPING. I can do an Emergency Stop better than any driver. But the thing that annoys Them the most, is that when I STOP, I then walk another 5 paces BEFORE SNIFFING !!!!! So what’s wrong with that?

I can sniiiiifffff a blade of grass for hours on end; She has to return quite regularly to hurry me along. Bobby and Fin just love it as it makes our walks longer and sniffing soooooo enjoyable!

However, if I am to have a name change I’ll only consider the following: Angus (My Sunday and Being Told Off Name), Gussie (When I’ve done something Cute) or Big Man (the one I like the best!)

So although I agree that Will Sniff is an amusing AKA for me, I’d much rather remain Gus …. or Big Man ….. or maybe Will Sniff for those more amusing days of mine!

Roooodles to you all from us Sparhawk Boys.
